This Annie Sloane Chalk Paint Duck Egg Blue Hutch, is the “ugly duckling” that turned into a swan. It’s one of my favorite pieces in my home and one of the best finds in My Mom’s Junk history. I spotted a garage sale when I was driving out of our neighborhood. Because I am always in a rush and running late, I didn’t have time to stop. It was the one and only time I think being late benefited me;). By the time I got back later that day, it was about the only thing left in their driveway. This thing is a beast and I could tell they really didn’t want to take it back in.
The woman that was selling it told me she shocked it didn’t sell yet. Her father had made it by hand and she really didn’t want to sell it. But they were moving and she didn’t have room. When I asked her how much she wanted she told me $25.00. Really? It took me about 2 seconds to hand her my money. I went back home and informed Big Chris I had bought another piece of furniture. Add another project to my list. I already had garage full of junk (AKA “Mom finds”) that I had just got from Mom. He was thrilled. He was even more thrilled when he and his buddy Adam went to get it.
I bought it before I started blogging and didn’t have the foresight to take a “before” picture. It was really, really bad! Imagine beat-up pine and hideous dark peeling stain. Anyway, the only pictures I had of this were in an old post of DIY resolutions. It didn’t give it the props it needed. Duck Egg Blue is my favorite Annie Sloan Chalk Paint color. It looks beautiful with any color room and decor.
