I found this during our “search and rescue” in Mom’s garage, underneath a pile of boxes and miscellaneous debris. Nobody wanted it…including Chris. Originally, I thought it was a buffet. It was actually a cabinet used for an old record player. That was supposed to look like a buffet. It doesn’t make sense to me either. The record player was long gone and as you can see it was in pretty bad shape. I was shocked when Mom told me that it had belonged to both sets of my Great-Grandparents. I had never seen it before. Looking back on it, I think its disturbing because where did Mom have this stuff? Storage???
You can see the veneer lifting in the back. It has really unique storage and it’s perfect for my dining room make-over. I am going to chalk paint it French Linen by Annie Sloan.
The details are beautiful…
I don’t really care the pulls are missing. How does that happen, anyway?
The first thing I did was glue the veneer down with wood glue and clamp it.
The next thing I did was filled in the holes with wood filler…
I know Chalk Paint says “no sanding, no prep” but let’s be realistic here. This looks really bad!
I am going to put a basket in the hole where the door is missing. Prep work is basically done. Now for the fun part. Painting!
