New designs and a new post! I am excited to share My Mom's Junk new look with you in my latest post!!! It's been quiet on the blog but behind the scenes, it has been a whirlwind of activity. It seems like if I'm blogging about something, I don't have time to get the project done. For my sanity, that's just not an option anymore. That being said, I'm working around the clock to prepare for my ... Read More about My Mom’s Junk New Look!
Years ago, I saw an article in Southern Living on a “Kitchen Makeover on a Budget.” I loved the kitchen and the DIY ideas by a faux finish artist and her designer friend were incredible. When we lived in Jacksonville, Florida, I found a rooster tapestry fabric on clearance for relatively inexpensive. I fell in love with it and wanted more. Long story short I BOUGHT THE LAST 5 YARDS IN THE US and had it shipped from New Orleans, Louisiana. It was pre-Katrina. So it’s been awhile. That purchase was not inexpensive. $250.00 to be exact. I also bought it during a time that I didn’t have a decorating budget…at all. So I have been hauling it around and refusing to use it until I KNEW we wouldn’t move again. Ever. So I am getting brave and I think I am going to take the plunge and…gulp…make my curtains. I also have been revisiting that same kitchen online and taking ideas from it. Here are a few ideas that I am not afraid to tell you I am going to attempt to steal!
First…the awning. Drool.
Which would be even more amazing in this! No, it’s not for sale. Yes, I always have pictures lying around of my fabric. No, it’s not midnight. No, I’m not taking photos of fabric on my dining room floor. Why do you ask? Do I seem crazy?!? Glad we got that straight!
Back to the make-over and more ideas I’m ripping off. Like chalkboard paint. Wouldn’t we all love our home to look like a Pottery Barn catalog?
I love checkerboard patterns and I love this idea by Developing Designs…
This is pretty too. In my signature color…black;)
Most importantly…this gives me an idea about how I am going to put my 90’s pickled oak cabinets out of their misery. I’m probably going to use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. This kitchen on From My Front Porch To Yours would be so perfect. Sighs.
Let us not forget…the little things. Like this…
I really am interested in big things too;)
But I think I said “on a budget” not “I won the lottery and I now have an unlimited budget.” Have a good evening and get some sleep. I need my beauty rest. I am throwing a party to celebrate my nephews 2nd birthday tomorrow. No…I’m not crazy;) Just in baby love with my nephew. Who’s completely adorable.
