My first venture into DIY furniture makeovers from My Mom’s Junk was an unassuming cottage style table. It had seen better days. In her heyday, she was quite the looker. On first glance, the tables battered finish says “Plain Jane” but there was something more ominous lurking beneath the tables battered and torn exterior. A finish that was only referred to as “LV8” has become my nemesis. Let me tell you…this little table from Bristol, Vermont has put up a fight. She is a scrapper. I have never seen a piece of furniture more adamant about staying ugly. I just can’t quit her. This is the before picture…
You can see the potential already. I went through two containers of Citristrip, sanded, and scraped. You can STILL see the finish. I will post the pictures of my darling table tomorrow. She is going through an “awkward phase”. Please be kind. I keep saying this but there is a learning curve. I plan on sharing what worked for me but more importantly what DID NOT. Soft pine furniture sucks up stain? Who knew?!? BTW that “Handyman” rockin’ that Mickey Mouse shirt is my handsome husband, Chris.
